School 127 “Ivan Nikolaevich Denkoglu”
Secondary comprehensive school no. 127 is a prestigious school with a long record, situated at the centre of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The school currently has 690 students, distributed in thirty forms from the first to the twelfth grade. The teaching staff comprises fifty-seven highly competent and experienced teachers. The school offers courses in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) as early as the first grade at the primary school students are admitted into the 8th grade of the secondary school after having passed a competitive entrance exam after the 7th grade. The applicants then choose between two departments – a foreign language department (with English as a first priority language) or Natural Science, again with English quite heavily covered in the curriculum. The intensive English tuition in the 8th grade is within the framework of 23 classes per week, with the students being admitted into the 9th grade only after they have successfully passed the English exam, comprising a written and an oral test.
English instruction continues into the upper grades of the secondary school by means of teaching biology, history and geography in the respective foreign language.

It is the oldest school in Sofia, named after the great Bulgarian patriot Ivan Denkoglu who donated the money and in every possible way assisted the founding of the school 155 years ago.
